Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Test and Card
PROCAT now offers CSCS test and card services at TUCA.
CSCS is a skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry.
CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out. The Scheme keeps a database of people working in construction who have achieved or are committed to achieving a recognised construction related qualification.
Holding a CSCS card is not a legislative requirement. It is entirely up to the principal contractor or client whether workers are required to hold a card before they are allowed on site. However, most principal contractors and major house builders require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.
To apply for CSCS cards you need to show that you have passed the CITB health, safety and environment test in the last 2 years.
CSCS health, safety and environment tests can only be administered at accredited sites.
The test consists of 50 multiple choice questions, and candidates have 45 minutes max. to answer all the questions.
For information on how to prepare for the test please go to http://www.citb.co.uk/cards-testing/health-safety-environment-test/preparing-for-the-test/ .
Please check requirements and the type of card needed prior to booking, via the following link: https://www.cscs.uk.com/applying-for-cards/types-of-cards/
NB: PROCAT does offer the L1 health and safety awareness course and IOSH working safely, in order to gain the Green Labourers card. We have more information on these courses on our website http://www.tuca.ac.uk/health-safety-courses
There is a range of different occupational variations of the card.
Generally, candidates with at least a Level 2 NVQ qualification in their field can directly take the test and, if successfully passed, apply for the card.
Candidates who do not have a Level 2 NVQ qualification need to pass at least a 1 day Health and Safety Awareness course (or equivalent), before they can do the test to get a so-called green (labourers) card.
The results of the test are generally available immediately.
Candidates failing their test will have to wait at least 48 hours before they can retake it. This will require making a new booking.
You will be required to arrive 45 minutes before the start of your test in order to give us enough time to check your ID and qualification documentation.
We charge £75 plus VAT for administering your test and handling the card application for you.
What is Included?
